Foursquare Fever – Punktilio is No 1 in London and Birmingham

foursquareWhether you’re confused by it or already checked-in, Foursquare is gaining massive popularity in America and catching on fast in Europe. Here’s why: It gives relevance on the social web to bricks & mortar, people and physical activity – where SecondLife is about virtual friends in virtual coffee houses, Foursquare is about a real friend in a real coffee shop. At Punktilio we’ve found it wholly addictive and are convinced that big things will morph and develop from here.

So what is the point? Well, beyond the fun of any challenge or prize, there’s bragging rights: users enjoy being recognized as the king barfly of their local, or the biggest nerd in the college library. And I took a huge sense of pride in naming a certain postcode after my nephew. Then there’s real-life connectivity: I ventured into a new pub this weekend, logged in, and bizarrely found two of my friends were having a pint over the road, so I ventured across and joined them. And there’s the recommendations part; I visited my Sister’s flower shop, logged in and posted a ‘Tip’ for other members, stating that I thought this flower shop ”had great staff, brilliant selections and was well priced! Very useful (more…)

PunktilioWe’re looking for passionate and motivated people who don’t tolerate 9 to 5ers. People who enjoy a challenge and revel in a fast paced environment, but also people who can join us for creative meetings in the local. We’re looking for a Media Planner/Buyer (with traditional and digital skills), a few Account/Project Managers, some Developers, a few Juniors to support them, and a shed load of interns who want to try their hand at working in digital and social media with the Punktilio crew.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself; what drives you, where your passions lie, what you’ve worked on, what you’ve achieved, and perhaps a good old-fashioned CV so we can ask you some sensible questions too.

Kate Maryon

This week we started to work with another one of Harper Collins’ authors, Kate Maryon, whos book ‘Shine’ was released on March 4th.

Shine is aimed at a younger teenage audience, so we’ve been reliving our youth and trying to remember what made us tick at that age… Do kids still like The A-Team??

Prior to launch we developed a unique Facebook Tab which features a sneak preview of the book, and since then we’ve been spreading the word of Shine all over the social web, as well as managing the Facebook ad spend. Click here to give the facebook page the once over, and you could also enter the competition for TopShop and Waterstones vouchers or a horse riding experience!

Leona Lewis

We are very pleased to announce that Leona’s fundraising auctions for Oxfam’s Haiti earthquake response, after attracting 170 eBay bids, have together raised nearly £12,000!

The money is enough to buy lifesaving equipment such as hygiene kits for 1,200 families or basic latrines for 9,600 people.

The main attraction was of course the chance to spend an afternoon with Leona, which went for £10,520!. The haircut and style by Leona’s hairstylist Ben Cooke went for £405, a lesson from Leona’s make-up artist Jane Bradley raised £230, and the signed presentation disc and goody-bag reached £720!

Leona had this to say… “The response to the auction was just incredible. Oxfam do amazing work, and I’m delighted to have done my bit to help them save lives in Haiti. I can’t wait to meet the winner and spend the afternoon with them, and would like to thank everyone who put in a bid for their support.”
